With its dark finish, this narrow table blends seamlessly into the kitchen's black-and-white color scheme. Two white stools tuck along the sides, transforming the tight space into an eat-in kitchen. For a country kitchen look that'll never date, hunt down a long and thin old wooden table that you can use as a kitchen island. As well as bringing all the practical benefits of an island, like worktop space and a room divider, it also brings lots of character and a feeling of history to the heart of your home. Bear in mind that the width of a galley kitchen should be 7 to 12ft (2.1 to 3.7m) with a minimum of 3ft (0.9m) between opposite countertops.

Knowing this will help you determine the largest size island you can fit in your kitchen. There are endless ideas for designing this modern kitchen necessity. This combines clean straight lines and sharp corners with a delicate and gentle curve on the other side.

Banish the Bland: 8 Inspiring Ideas for a Handsome Hallway

If there is likely to be more than one cook working in the kitchen at the same time, leave at least 48 inches (4ft) between the perimeter countertops and kitchen island. If you do feel more comfortable with a pale palette, try to shake things up in other ways. Incorporating interesting shapes, via serpentine curved units, or adding one strong feature piece like a chandelier or designer bar stools, can create a really dynamic room that’s easy to update. They are usually tables, trollies or units on wheels, but they come in a whole host of styles from industrial designs to classic farmhouse kitchen islands. A handleless scheme, particularly one in a cool white, can appear clinical, but adding a few natural materials will give it a softer edge. Think about including a colorful patterned tile backsplash or wooden worktops.

Rustic and Practical

Tom Howley's top tip for spaces without enough prep space is to cover your sink with a temporary piece of worktop or a fitted chopping board while it’s not in use. Define a small kitchen island subtly by cladding it with timber panelling. Match with your painted kitchen cabinet ideas so it will blend easily with the rest of the kitchen while maintaining its own distinct character. Locating the sink on your island can be a worthwhile option if you're short on worktop space. Or if the small kitchen layout suits a long run of cabinets with most of the appliances on one side of your kitchen.

As Rikki Synder captured here, a portable island on wheels can be just the trick when working with a tight kitchen. Simply roll it out of the way when you need the floor space, or lock it into place when you need extra prep space. Every day, working with a small kitchen is a battle of bumping elbows and questioning where to store the cheese grater. That's why we're focusing on kitchen islands—no matter how big or small they are—which can hold the key to adding storage and saving space, making your kitchen feel roomier than it is.The tricks? Incorporating storage in unexpected spots and making the most of the space you do have. Pasta doesn’t have to be relegated to a pantry, and your fruit bowl doesn’t have to sit on top of the island.

Choose open shelving

Look for compact appliances, choosing premium models that give the optimum internal space while still fitting a standard or compact footprint. Also pieces such as multi-functional compact ovens, offer a range of cooking methods from steam to conventional and microwave in one neat little package. The slim ledge is carved out of the same pale quartz worktop as the rest of the kitchen with two stools to perch on and take in the views of the city of Bath, England, outside. Storage is clearly king when it comes to the small kitchen and this is where bespoke, made-to-measure designs as part of the layout really come into their own. The flexibility of having non-standard door sizes, clever corner cabinets and tailor-made carcasses at your fingertips is a huge plus point for small kitchen layouts. A portable kitchen island can be moved about the room according to needs, which means they are more flexible than their static counterparts.

Choose Lowkey Barstools

There are plenty of ways to best utilize your kitchen island, but first you must decide what you need most from it. Are you looking to add pizzazz that the kitchen cabinets are not providing? Whatever the answer may be, use it as guidance for planning out your kitchen island (or accessorizing it, in the case that you already have one). Steer clear of boring and expected countertops by adding a terrazzo slab to your kitchen island.

‘A smaller kitchen requires careful thought and consideration to give the illusion of a larger space,’ says Isabel Fernandez, director at Quorn Stone. ‘Contrary to belief we often find a larger tile can work well at achieving this. A smaller tile results in lots of grout joints which can enclose the space and detract the eye from the tile. We often suggest a large tile as it works well in both smaller and larger areas'. Other decorative tips include knowing which items home organizers say make rooms feel small (so you can avoid them in your kitchen). Top tips include keeping small kitchen appliances away from your worktops and getting rid of food packaging that is taking up unnecessary room in your pantry or cupboard.

Also, when it comes to cooking, you'll be limited with countertop surface area. Opt for a multi-use drawer as it offers a compact space for crockery and cutlery.

Pair your white subway tiles with a cobalt blue island for a shocking splash of color. Or, paint your island a color of your heirloom dish set to make your kitchen feel coordinated. Adding greenery into your home is one of the most sure-fire ways to make a small space feel relaxing, inviting, and stress-free.

Patrick O'Donnell, brand ambassador for Farrow & Ball explains, "If your kitchen is all one color,  adding a secondary color to the island can elevate the look and give the whole room a new appearance. If your kitchen doesn't allow for a full-size dishwasher, consider a compact option instead. This legendary restaurant started as a speakeasy in 1927, a true Prohibition-era bar that didn’t turn into a steakhouse until the 1930s. Long Island-born restaurateur Dean Poll bought it in 2013 and revamped it shortly after. Still, he maintained the restaurant’s meat cooler that can be spotted from the street, one of the rare steakhouse dry-aging rooms still available for public viewing. Start off with the bacon-studded clams casino, then pair a funky dry-aged ribeye with fries and a wedge salad drenched in blue cheese. You can choose from over 15 different steaks, but there are two we recommend trying. The Porterhouse here is cooked and seasoned very nicely, though it didn't knock our socks off. The combination of walnuts, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and really good vanilla ice cream. This London-based chain became one of the city’s better steakhouses when it opened in 2021. Note that Hawksmoor, like, Gallaghers, is one of the few city venues to grill its dry-aged steaks over charcoals.

But some rise above the rest, and this list is a guide to which stand out to Eater staffers. It’s highly personal and completely subjective, but guaranteed delicious. You’ll still find all the fantastic prime cuts you know and love, alongside an A-list selection of seafood and salads. House Fancy SpongeBob Wiki, the SpongeBob encyclopedia

squidward's house

For decades, the house was quiet—the home of the upstanding Mazur family. But this was not the end of the story of George Hodel and the Sowden House. In the late 1910s, the young architect Lloyd Wright came to Los Angeles at the request of his father, the legendary Frank Lloyd Wright. Over the next few years, the younger Wright worked with his father on many commissions, including Los Feliz's famous Hollyhock House. In 1924, the elder Wright left LA, telling his son, “I'm fed up here.

It contains Squidward's canopy bed that Squidward sleeps, which has two tables next to it. Squidward's bathroom's location is inconsistent, sometimes appearing on the first floor and other times on the second. There is a blue toilet, and a bathtub and shower with pink curtains.

Squidward Tentacles' house

The garage along with the backside of SpongeBob's house is first seen in the episode "Reef Blower." Out back of the house, the backyard is closed in by a square of flowers, much like the ones seen in the sky. SpongeBob SquarePants' house or simply SpongeBob's house is the home of SpongeBob SquarePants and Gary the Snail. It is located near Squidward and Patrick's houses where Patrick Star and Squidward Tentacles lives as the house is on Conch Street. It is one of the main locations for SpongeBob SquarePants series.

Squidward Tentacles Appearances in Episodes

You're young enough to take Los Angeles.” Take Los Angeles Lloyd did. Squidward is relaxing in his front yard, only to be interrupted by SpongeBob and Patrick playing catch between them. When SpongeBob asks Squidward to play, he refuses and tricks them into leaving him alone by heading into his backyard for a surprise he hid back there. When SpongeBob cannot find any surprise and assumes there is no surprise at all, Patrick digs in the sand and finds a mysterious on/off switch, which he flips. The switch causes Squidward's house to come to life and "awaken" after years of being asleep, which seems like a surprise to them. Squidward allows him to help out, and tells him to use paint to cover up a faded area on the wall.

The pineapple originates from land, when it fell off of a ship navigating above the sea, turning into a house as seen in the TV movie "Truth or Square." Squidward takes pride in his house after winning the title of House Fancy Prince from the host, Nicholas Withers in a competition against his lifelong rival, Squilliam Fancyson. His constant absences from the house on Muirfield Road proved too much for his wife, who finally left him. As fine a home as it truly was, however, it is hard not to note the coincidence of its location literally less than a block away from the much smaller home of Hughes's Uncle Felix. He may have insisted on the far grander Fudger house to ensure that his estranged relatives would have to see physical proof of his material success on a daily basis. Ostensibly, the Fudger house, with its handsome cantilevered balcony running the length of its central mass, was evocative of the houses of old Monterey.

“My goodness, I wouldn't want to live in a place like that,” one viewer gasped. Squidward hears a knock on the door and thinks it is Nicholas Withers, but then Patrick comes in and uses his toilet, only to end up killing it in the process. The vacuum is now at full capacity and explodes, destroying the house right as Nicholas arrives. However, when he sees the destroyed house, he loves the "house" and crowns Squidward House Fancy prince of the year. The episode starts with the employees at the Krusty Krab doing nothing as the restaurant closes. SpongeBob really wants Squidward to visit his house, but Squidward does not want to.

Squidward Character Guide

Squidward Tentacles' house or simply Squidward's house is the home of Squidward Tentacles. It is one of the main locations for the SpongeBob SquarePants series. It is located in between SpongeBob's and Patrick's houses, and has been a recurring location since the pilot episode. The house is in a suburban area of Bikini Bottom much like his neighbors and the Krusty Krab and Chum Bucket as some houses can be seen from his house.

A blue dining table and chairs, with a clam-shaped chandelier above them, is located near the kitchen. The exterior of Squidward's house resembles the head of a moai, a type of statue found on Easter Island. It has two windows and a wooden door with planks of wood leading to it. In episodes such as "Bunny Hunt" and "Mermaid Pants," a flower or vegetable garden is located behind Squidward's house, with a wooden shed containing gardening supplies. The house is a "Moai," popularly called an Easter Island Head (it is even referred to as such by Squidward himself in some episodes).

In 2003, the house was listed as a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. Balbes transformed the house, spending $1.6 million dollars in the process. He added a pool in the central courtyard, covered the interior walls in metallic bronze and silver, opened up the kitchen, and added Asian-inspired statuary and ornamentation. In 1949, Hodel’s beautiful teenage daughter Tamar ran away from the house. Once through the gate, you turned immediately to your right and continued up a dark passageway, then made another right turn to the front door.

Pearl sleeps on the other side f the house, which is a bit surprising considering how overprotective her father can be. Another significant home we see in SpongeBob SquarePants is the anchor where Mr. Krabs and Pearl live. The first floor features the living room, and only Mr. Krabs would have a vending machine to try and make money off his guests. I don’t think I could live under a rock, figuratively or literally. But the house is simple, and I think that’s something we can all take inspiration from. There are two windows on the second floor that represent the eyes.

squidward's house

Then Patrick suggests blowing bubbles, which the house loves, but is still running around. Squidward thanks SpongeBob and Patrick and owes them one, and the comic ends with SpongeBob and Patrick pulling Squidward into a game of keep-away with them. SpongeBob then tells Squidward to stay at his house, rendering him catatonic and fainting to SpongeBob's worry. In the end, he winds up staying at the pineapple with him indoors and SpongeBob and Gary sleeping outside, as the episode ends.

While usually a dark blue, Squidward's house is dark red at night.

For one, he has a twin sister named Scarlet, though it’s unclear how close they are. In the middle, there is a bed that contains three white mattresses, bamboo sticks used to hold them together, a white pillow, and a green buoy with dark green rings. Above his bed is a diving board connected to a ladder, which appears to be used to jump from one room to another to put on his clothes, as seen in "Help Wanted." His bathroom contains a square-shaped toilet, a shower/bathtub, a sink, wringer, etc. as well as a porthole window that looks out onto Conch Street.

One excellent benefit of a white office is that it creates an illusion of space. You can also foster creativity in your modern small office interiors by using flexible desks and chairs that can fold when not in use. Some other creative ways include using a mix of colours to brighten the room and also pinning your favourite photos on the walls.

If you are looking for an office to study or run your small business, a modern small office design would be a great idea to embrace. Such an office will create a serene environment suitable for operations that require much creativity and critical thinking. Oak-panelled walls match the original wooden floors in the 1910s office building. Vintage furniture pieces and a custom-made brass desk add to the luxurious feel of the space, which contains four private offices. Select comfy seating for your small office that will keep you comfortable and productive throughout the day. Read on to discover more practical ideas to maximize the functionality of your small office space.

Create a calming space

Turning an unused closet into an office is a clever way to create a dedicated workspace without needing extra room. By fitting a desk inside the closet space and adding shelves above it, you can make a compact office that has everything you need. The lower part of the closet can hold the desk and storage for day-to-day work, while the upper shelves are perfect for keeping supplies and files.

This desk also comes in a beautiful natural wood hue that would work well with a neutral color palette, too. It also allows everyone to feel like part of the same team, which is great for morale. To make the most of a small home office, use the space above your desk and around the room by adding shelves, tall bookcases, hanging bins, and pegboards on the walls. This way, you can store books, supplies, and decorations without using up valuable desk or floor space. By keeping things organized vertically, you’ll have more room to work and keep your office neat and tidy. Turning the space under your stairs into a home office is a smart way to use an often-overlooked spot in a small house.

Best Modern Office Design Ideas for Small Spaces

Vintage minimalist concepts not only enhance productivity but also provide a sense of inspiration and creativity in the work environment. This concept not only maximizes productivity but also fosters creativity within the family. Wall-mounted desks revolutionize small home office spaces with their innovative and space-saving design. Intelligently utilizing vertical areas, these desks offer a streamlined workstation solution that optimizes productivity while enhancing the overall aesthetic of your workspace. Incorporating personal touches such as photographs or interesting knickknacks can make these workspaces feel more inviting while enhancing their functionality. If you want to make the most out of your office space — whether it be its own designated room or a small corner in your living room — consider going vertical.

It impacts productivity, strains co-worker relationships, and can also bleed into workers’ personal lives. In other words, workers need private spaces just as much as they need coworking spaces. Maybe you were working at the same desk for hours — your creativity waning and your back starting to ache. They want to ditch the 9-5 prison look and work in areas that feel more inviting. “The 12 offices profiled purposely include a range of divergent office types—corporate headquarters, remote laboratories, urban commercial real estate, and sprawling campuses,” Suen says.

Repurposing vanity spaces is a clever and space-saving solution for small offices in homes that lack spare rooms or basements. By transforming underused bedroom vanities into functional workstations, you can effectively utilize existing furniture while creating an inspiring workspace. “A sleek desk with storage to hide your things will make for a modern feel,” says Bass. She also recommends looking at lighting and incorporating a Scandinavian-style desk lamp, like this Mercury Row minimal desk lamp from Wayfair, to achieve that more modern minimalist feel. This is known as activity-based working and can empower employees to decide where and how they work based on their tasks, preferences and work styles. Empowering your employees to use these spaces for their unique activity needs, whether for focused work, collaboration, or personal matters, can enhance employee satisfaction, productivity and company culture.

Offices are more susceptible to clutter, but it’s possible to keep it to a minimum if you’re intentional about storage and decor. Instead of displaying all of your supplies on your desk, keep items in a sleek cabinet, like this storage cabinet available at Wayfair, or a desk drawer. This not only adds minimalist wall art details but also anchors your workspace and helps make the area feel a little more intentional and separate from other parts of the home.

Because mobility is highly requested by modern workers — and leads to better collaboration — hot-desking isn’t going anywhere. The idea behind the biophilic design is that human beings have become too disconnected from nature. Smartboards, wireless chargers for cell phones, and electric outlets built into every workstation and meeting room are just a few of the little things that help make office life easier.

Transforming unused spaces into functional home offices is an innovative and space-saving solution. This design concept utilizes what would otherwise be empty, underutilized areas beneath your staircase for small home office ideas. Design strategies such as L-shaped home offices, seamless designs, corner office setups, and alcove spaces aid in maximizing small areas while maintaining a high level of functionality. The good news is that in the digital age, work areas don’t always require as much square footage as the home offices of yesteryear. “Gone are the days when an office space needed lots of storage and paper filing,” says Brad Ramsey of Nashville’s Brad Ramsey Interiors.

Believe it or not, offices with assigned seating typically have desks that are dirtier than most toilets. Biophilic design is a powerful trend popping up in the office design community. A sharp-looking office design is also instrumental when it comes to first impressions. So, you figured a change of scenery might help — maybe somewhere with more natural light, a few plants, and a really comfy chair. Modern office design is a workplace design movement acknowledging the needs and desires of today’s workforce.

The "super furniture" curves through the entire space and was made from fragrant Japanese cedar. Dark flooring, chairs and stools and 534 suspended light bulbs complete the interior design of the office space. Studies have shown that adding personal elements to your workspace can improve your mood and overall well-being, leading to increased productivity and creativity. So go ahead and showcase those cherished trinkets or hang up that artwork you love – it’s all about making your small office an inviting place where you feel motivated to do your best work. Add a personal touch to your small office with creative gallery wall ideas and colorful furniture that reflect your unique style and personality.

Squidward Tentacles' house Fandom

squidward's house

You don’t have to watch much SpongeBob to know that Squidward is pretty arrogant. In the Band Geeks episode, Squidward shares this quote when talking about how the other fish don’t have musical talent. Whatever the case, this quote about wanting to sleep is pretty relatable. It’s very similar to telling someone to shut up, but it’s not quite as harsh.

squidward's house

Squidward Tentacles' house

Squidward's art studio has many of his paintings, self portraits, statues, and other works of art. The studio connects to Squidward's bedroom, and has two windows. As is often the case, the sordid new story only increased the house’s profile and market value. Its transformation from private family home into hip showplace had already happened in 2001, when flamboyant real estate entrepreneur Xorin Balbes bought the home from the Mazur family for $1.2 million. George was acquitted after launching a smear campaign directed at his daughter.

Squidward Tentacles Appearances in Episodes

We also occasionally see where SpongeBob’s driving instructor, Mrs. Puff, lives. She has what looks like a lot of other houses in Bikini Bottom, but hers is pink. Because of the anchor design, Mr. Krabs’ bedroom is on the right side on the second floor.

Squidward Tentacles Physical Traits

Squidward’s most well-known hobby is that of playing the clarinet. He often dreams of playing the clarinet full-time, but he never seems to get his career off the ground. Even casual viewers should know that Squidward works as the cashier at The Krusty Krab.

1st Floor

Squilliam always has to upstage Squidward, and that includes having a bigger, more extravagant house. Only octopuses (Squidward’s an octopus, not a squid) can get into the community. If you’ve seen the episode, you’ll know that it seems like paradise at first, and Squidward fits right in.

In the episode “Squidville,” Squidward gets fed up with living between SpongeBob and Patrick. He decides to move to Tentacle Acres, which is a gated community with all Moai statue homes. While it’s a pretty simple house, I got to hand it to DoodleBob.

The beginner’s guide to Los Angeles

Squidward is often mean, but he’s had a bad attitude that never helps. Keep that in mind next time you watch an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants or any of the spin-offs or movies. Whether you’re a casual viewer or a superfan, you should look at a Squidward character guide. Then, you can understand some of the motives behind the resident octopus of Bikini Bottom. Of course, in Squidward fashion, the character doesn’t understand some of these questions. To him, it should be obvious that condiments aren’t musical instruments.

You’ll find the kitchen and living room on the first floor, while the bathroom is the next level up. SpongeBob’s bedroom is on the third floor and so is the library, but a part of the library is on the second floor. Throughout the series, we see a lot of houses in Bikini Bottom.

SpongeBob's House

The character would rather have a customer hit him than have to listen to a ridiculous story or complaint. Other episodes give Squidward a more supporting role, and some episodes see him play an even smaller role. There are a few episodes that don’t feature the character at all. The season 5 episode "Night Light" shows that there is another bathroom attached to the bedroom.

The enigmatic Sowden House is an anomaly on otherwise charming and SoCal-bright Franklin Avenue in Los Feliz. Squidward tells him to clean up the mess while he dresses up his wound. SpongeBob notices the whole house is messy and tries to add extra power, but accidentally breaks the handle and it spins out of control, and by the time Squidward comes back, SpongeBob gets sucked in. It seems like a nice place to retire, and you can stay close to home. The home also has a secret passageway to the superheroes’ Mermalair, where they prepare to fight crime even after retiring.

I’d love to have that kind of confidence, especially when working in retail or food service. Even if you’d never say it, you can probably understand the feelings behind this quote. If you’ve ever had to deal with a rude customer, you’ll have probably thought this. Oftentimes, retail and service employees have to ask customers to come back to the store. While Squidward does have some lines that aren’t the best, others are fantastic and easy to quote. Consider some of the best and most relatable Squidward Tentacles quotes.

The laundry room features a basket full of square pants, some washing bottles, as well as washing machines. There is a small garage in the back of the house and two windows in the front. Inside the house, Squidward's house decor is distinctively egotistical; Squidward tends to depict his own face all over rugs, portraits, and busts throughout his house. As he has vanity in his own artworks, common examples of such decor are plastered all over his art gallery, with each artwork a varying style of self-portrait. The SpongeBob Wiki has a guideline regarding the use of image galleries — collections of episode screenshots are no longer allowed on galleries due to potential fair use violations. Squidward's house appears to have a mind of its own, usually to give a comedic effect.

While Squidward is cooking, SpongeBob steals his vacuum cleaner in order for him come to the pineapple to get it back. Squidward puts his dinner in the oven and then comes to SpongeBob's house and sees, to his shock, that SpongeBob made an exact replica of his house. Squidward is now getting very annoyed and demands his vacuum, but SpongeBob ignores him, trying to do everything he can to ensure Squidward stays. Squidward sits on the exact replica of his chair and sees his coffee table, his food, his Art of the Clarinet book, and his pillow SpongeBob was fluffing. Then Squidward sees his hallway, and he sees the chip in the painting from when he moved into his own house. Then he walks into his bathroom and he sees his medicine cabinet and his rash cream.

Of course, we get to see SpongeBob’s house a lot, but we also see where other characters live. Whether you’re new to the show or a longtime fan, consider the different houses. I love SpongeBob’s pineapple house because I love pineapples, and the house is bigger than it looks.

Big Names and Ballet Slippers: Inside YAGP’s 25th Anniversary Gala

You might like walking around the house with bare feet, but your feet won't if you do it too often. In fact, spending a lot of time barefoot can cause pain for some people. "The foot has 26 bones, 33 joints, 19 muscles, and 109 ligaments, so a lot can go wrong as we overuse and abuse our feet daily," says Douglas Tumen, DPM, F.A.C.F.A.S., a podiatrist based in New York and author of Ask the Foot Doctor. ChicNChic designed these house shoes to be the last word in comfort.

The people and the party

The women’s version is embellished with a thick, shearling collar; the men’s is not, so it looks a bit more understated. Led by the machine washable memory foam Libby, our classics promise real comfort with real conveniences. "Sneakers are the only shoes I want to wear anymore when I step out of the house, and I've been turning to my classic slip-on Vans because I can't even be bothered with laces anymore, apparently." The slippers have been made using Hanes Fresh IQ advance odor protection technology that keeps your slippers and feet smelling fresh.

Breathable wool boots

Instead of wearing the same shoes worn outdoors, house shoes are used exclusively inside and worn for comfort and cleanliness. House shoes are a concept we never really paid all that much attention to until we recently started spending almost all of our time indoors. If you think about where your outside shoes have been and take a look at the bottoms of any of them, it makes sense why you should probably take them off at the door when you get home.

Sheepskin and suede slippers

The removable insole is definitely our favorite feature, both for comfort and hygiene reasons, so if that’s something that is important to you, definitely go with the Falcon Ridge house shoes. Generally speaking, a lot of foot pain can be resolved by wearing appropriate shoes (indoors and outdoors) that support the entire arch—says Canuso—even if that means getting insoles to help support your arch. "These faux-fur lined moccasin slippers are one of my favorites and are as comfy and cozy as they get. They have a thin rubber sole and are perfect for wearing both indoors and outdoors."

house shoes

Made with genuine cowhide suede, with durable stitching and a quality sole, it’s perfect for indoor use, and will even serve you while you go out to get your morning paper. Several of the shoes on our list sport high-density memory foam insoles that cushion your feet and mold to the shape of your feet for the best and most comfortable fit. Having an insole that’s molded to your foot shape will give you greater support, and will help you prevent aches or pains in your back, hips, or feet. Thankfully, most house shoes are designed to be comfortable, but that doesn’t mean they always provide the comfort they promise. Look for shoes that are made from soft materials like fleece or cotton and that have ample cushion in the insole. In fact, fit is almost as important here as it is when selecting walking shoes or running shoes.

So, when the story of the slippers' theft hits screens worldwide, Grand Rapids boosters want to give true-crime fans a reason for a pilgrimage. FBI returns slippers to their owner, California collector Michael Shaw, who announces the shoes will go on an international tour before going up for auction in December. The ruby slippers make their first trip to Grand Rapids, for a town festival marking the 50th anniversary of "The Wizard of Oz," which draws 30,000 visitors.

What are the best slippers for sweaty feet?

In the absence of security footage, fingers were pointed and accusations flew. Divers plunged into an abandoned mine pit in search of the slippers. Wirecutter is the product recommendation service from The New York Times.

They have a textured outsole that works by gripping along the floor and preventing you from slipping when moving around. The Jessica Simpson slippers are best hand washed in cold water then air-dried. They come in 7 different colors including Cinnamon, Dusty Pink, and Grey.

The Acorn Faux Chinchilla house moccasin is constructed from soft, fleece-like uppers that wrap your feet in warmth, while the collar is a faux chinchilla lining that gives a plush, rich feel. The men’s slippers feature a durable textured outsole that provides plenty of grip, reducing the risk of any trips or slips. The durable outsole also provides a hard-wearing base for you to step on, giving you a good level of stability and support.

"You should never choose house shoes that do not feel comfortable, or do not fit your feet well," says Kuizinas. So make sure not to go too large or wide in sizing and look for a roomy toe area. The podiatrists we interviewed recommend looking for cushioned, comfortable house shoes with a supportive arch, a toe box (if not open-toed) that leaves plenty of toe room and some traction on the sole. These shearling slippers are warm, cozy, and—surprisingly—work both for hot and cold climates.

We liked the slip-on sneaker-style Allbirds Wool Loungers (women’s, men’s), but they felt more like outdoor shoes than cozy indoor slippers. Perhaps you love the warmth of wool but hate the feel of it against your skin.

Find a pair (like the ones on our list) that will help soothe your feet and give them the support and comfort they need to be rested for the next day. You’ll want to look for a pair of shoes that will provide good support. Memory foam is your best bet for a comfortable fit, but other high-density materials like a sponge will also provide cushion. "There should be a visible arch support on the outside sole of the shoe as well as extra padding on the insert of the shoe at the arch," says Canuso.

Cushioning and Comfort

Outside, Dowell peppered Martin's defense attorney with questions, including the brand of his buffalo-plaid coat and his client's connections to organized crime. Then, 13 yearsafter the slippers disappeared, they returned out of nowhere, as if they'd simply clicked their magical heels instead of having been nabbed in an FBI sting. It took another five years for a local septuagenarian, Terry Jon Martin, to be indicted and plead guilty, in October 2023. And the theft of the cultural treasure — the emblem of one of the country's most-watched films, referred to as America's "Mona Lisa" — shone an unflattering spotlight on Garland's humble hometown.

House shoes can really be whatever you want them to be—slippers, sandals, flats, even sneakers. You probably just want them to be comfortable and easy to slip on and off. And even better, putting them on each day should bring you joy whether they make your feet feel good or are just nice to look at (but preferably both). Obviously, feel free to turn any of the more substantial house shoes listed below into your new outside shoes once we're able to venture out more eventually.

The people and the party

The sweater-like and fleece materials used to make this slipper will keep your feet warm, and the comfort insole will give you support and cushion that you won't find in your average house shoe. Uncommon on most house slippers, the Cally features a lace closure that goes around the entire foot and ensures a comfortable and secure fit. This is particularly important for those with narrow feet who find several house shoes too wide, as well as for those who walk a lot and want to spend less time adjusting their footwear. A well-known brand, synonymous with cozy, soft slippers and kicking back after a long day, the Tamarac by Slippers International Sheepskin is just what your feet need. Soft suede uppers are lined with lamb wool, while pillow soft memory foam footbed gives each step you take a luxe cushion. A rubber sole allows for outside wear if you need to grab the Sunday paper or your files from the car after a day at the office.

Glerups Boot With Leather Sole

Sold for a high price, these slippers are a timeless investment piece that will last for many years to come. Most importantly, your house shoes should be something comfortable you look forward to putting on your feet. We also tested these Oofos Ooriginal Sandals alongside 35 other sandals and (perhaps to no one's surprise) found them to be among the most supportive. "I recommend them to patients for everything—poolside, beach, locker room, house shoes and more!" says Sharkey. The RockDove Men’s Original Two-Tone Memory Foam Slipper fit our feet securely at first, but the memory foam quickly lost its cushiony feel. The Old Friend Women’s Scuff slippers ran very small, and the sheepskin quickly wore down.

At first, it seemed as though the museum had practically rolled out the red carpet to thieves. But its security vulnerabilities were a perfect storm of misjudgments and the norms of a small-town museum. Kelsch, a vibrant encyclopedia of All Things Judy Garland, has been preserving and promoting the entertainer's legacy since the 1980s. Though Garland left Grand Rapids when she was 4, Kelsch says she had fond memories of the town where she made her stage debut at her parents' vaudeville theater (now Rapids Brewing).

The Minnetonka Pile Lined Hardsole moccasins were impressively soft and comfortable. Less than a month into our tests, however, the sheepskin wore through to the suede. After a few weeks of wear, you might notice some shedding on the Glerups slippers—small, pill-like bundles of wool may gather, particularly around friction points, like the heel. That’s normal, and it won’t happen for long; simply pull off the loose wool and discard it.

With their combination of warmth, comfort, and durability, it’s no wonder these slippers have been a pick since 2016. Most podiatrists also agree that house shoes provide relief and support for wearers who have certain conditions—including flat feet, plantar fasciitis, arthritis and more. "Most foot pain can be resolved by wearing appropriate shoes that support the entire arch," says Dana Canuso, DPM, a podiatric surgeon and founder of Dr. Canuso Skincare for Feet. The soft fluffy house shoes have a soft inner lining that feels warm and soft against your feet. The outer suede fabric also feels smooth and soft to touch, giving the slippers a timeless look.

As police examined the crime scene, they determined the thief, or thieves, could have slid along the wall to evade the motion detector and enter the gallery's unlocked door. If the theft buoyed Dowell, it sank John Kelsch, who led the Judy Garland museum for more than 20 years, before moving into a consulting role in 2018. As does the attention from the documentary filmmakers, who have her serving as a sort of tour guide/fixer/narrator. While many Minnesotans assume the slipper case closed, Pam Dowell knows the story is more complex, with as many twists and turns as Oz's yellow brick road. Not since the James-Younger gang rode into Northfield has a Minnesota town been so rocked by a theft. "When I want to feel a bit more elevated in my day-to-day, I reach for these leather slides that have a cool, minimal vibe."

It also features a structural connection ring on the front of the harness. Connecting to this ring is optional, but recommended, as it allows you to attach to the front and back of the harness simultaneously. Used this way, you can control pulling and redirect your dog’s attention back to you for training and treats.

Please see the Harness Replacement Warranty page for details. Think about wearing a bathing suit that’s way too tight and how it digs into and rubs against your skin. If that was your only bathing suit, you probably wouldn’t want to go swimming. In your dog’s mind, going on a walk just isn’t worth the discomfort of wearing their too-tight harness. We want to provide our readers with objective information that keeps them fully informed. Therefore, we have set editorial standards based on our experience to ensure our desired quality.

To measure your dog for the harness, use a soft measuring tape (or a piece of string) and measure all the way around the largest part of your dog’s chest. Choose the SMALLEST size that fits within that measurement. There are many different kinds of dog harnesses, and each type of harness will have a slightly different style and fit. In general, a dog harness should fit snug, but not too tight. It should be tight enough that your dog can’t back out of it, and the ring (that you clip the leash to) should sit higher on their chest. Just like with a collar, you should be able to fit two fingers (but only two!) between the harness and your dog.

First, our Training Leash was designed to work in tandem with the Freedom Harness – that’s why both have two attachment points! This gives you even more control while you’re walking your dog, and still enables them to move freely without any choking or leg restriction. Take the lead with the “power steering” front leash connection, or prevent pulling with the back leash connection which activates soothing, hug-like compression when pressure is applied.

When connected to two points the training leash is 3′ long including the floating handle, and 4′ long when attached to a single point. As the name suggests, this shorter leash is especially useful for training. The Freedom No-Pull Harness is designed to fit any dog from 14 lbs all the way up to 250+ lbs. So stylish, you’d hardly know it’s the most useful harness you’ll ever own. All 2 Hounds Design products (unless otherwise noted) can be washed in the washing machine on the delicate cycle and air dry (not in direct sunlight). Plus, we threw in some awesome extras like a water bowl, poop bags, and a built-in squeaker so you can feel totally prepared.
